Maison Noir Reserve

Questions

Sixteen questions we are asked most often, answered properly rather than briefly. If yours is not here, write to us.

Before you book

In the dining room, yes. All three rooms serve tasting menus only, at four lengths from $165 to $395 per guest. If you would rather order one or two dishes, Bar Noir and the lounge serve the full à la carte list from opening until forty five minutes before close, and half the bar is held for walk ins every night.

Sixty days, released at 10:00 AM Eastern on the first of each month. Cancellations reopen throughout the week, so it is worth checking on a Tuesday afternoon rather than only on the release date. The chef’s table has eight seats a night and usually goes within an hour of release.

The deposit is $50 per guest for the dining room, $150 per guest for the chef’s table, and nothing at all for the bar. It is held on your card at booking and then credited in full against your final bill, so you are never charged twice. Cancel more than forty eight hours ahead and it is released, no questions.

A 20 percent service charge is added automatically for parties of six or more and is printed on your check. It is distributed in full to the kitchen and floor. For five guests or fewer there is no service charge and tipping is entirely at your discretion. There is no booking fee, no cover charge, no bread charge and no card surcharge anywhere in the business.

Usually yes, and we would rather cook you a different dish than remove an ingredient from an existing one. Tell us on the reservation form and again when you sit down. With twenty four hours notice we can plan properly. Please read the allergen disclaimer first: our kitchens handle gluten, dairy, egg, soy, sesame, shellfish, fish and tree nuts every service, so we cannot promise any dish is free of traces.

Yes. Vegetal Noir is nine plant based courses at $235 per guest, cooked on its own station with its own equipment rather than assembled by subtracting things. It needs twenty four hours notice so the station can be prepped. A vegetarian version of the standard menu is available at any seating without notice.

Le Noir runs about two and a half hours, Le Court about ninety minutes, and the chef’s table about three and a half. If you have a curtain to make, tell us when you book and we will pace the kitchen around it. We would rather know at 5:00 PM than at 8:30 PM.

No, and there never has been. Most guests wear what they would to a good dinner, which covers a very wide range. No jacket is required at any location.

Guests aged ten and over are welcome at any seating. Younger children are welcome at the 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM seatings, where the room is quieter and the kitchen can move faster. There are no highchairs at the chef’s table because it is a working kitchen counter.

At the bar, yes, always: half of the fourteen bar seats at Tribeca and ten at Nob Hill are held for walk ins every night. The dining room is reservation only, though it is always worth calling on the day because cancellations happen more often than people expect.

Yes, from $50 to $2,000, digital or printed. It never expires, the balance never reduces on its own, and there is no activation fee, dormancy fee or reissue fee. It works at all three restaurants, at Bar Noir, on Noir at Home orders and in the Pantry. Buy one here.

Because DoorDash, Uber Eats and Caviar charge us a commission of between fifteen and thirty percent, and we price the menu on those platforms to cover it rather than absorbing it silently. Ordering directly on this site costs $6.95 for delivery, free over $85 within three miles, with no service fee, packaging fee or card surcharge.

Yes, within twenty five miles of any of the three restaurants. There are three packages at $95, $145 and $225 per guest, plus staffing at $55 per hour for service and $65 for kitchen, and a travel and equipment charge from $450. Everything is quoted in writing before you commit. Full package details.

All three locations have level or ramped entry, an accessible restroom on the same floor as the dining room, and 36 inch clearances between tables. Tribeca and Nob Hill are entirely on one level. Tell us on the reservation form and we will hold the table best suited to you. Our full accessibility statement covers both the buildings and this website.

Of your own food and your own table, of course. Please keep flash off, and please do not photograph other guests or the open kitchen at Nob Hill during service, where cooks are working three feet from you. Professional equipment and tripods need to be arranged in advance through [email protected].

Not our own. Tribeca has a garage on Laight Street which we do not validate. Georgetown has third party valet from 5:30 PM at $18 flat, from which we take nothing. Nob Hill has a garage at 1101 California Street, and street parking there is genuinely difficult, so most guests arrive by car service or cable car.
